Monica Biancardi (Naples 1972) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples and completed studies in art history and archeology at the Federico II University of the same city.

Interested in the interpretation of images, she uses various languages such as drawing, engraving, video and photography.

Her research investigates writing with light, primarily through the shadows it generates, and aims to bring photography back to its origins, making it a unique, non-reproducible piece, thanks to the fusion of hand engraving on glass or plexiglass. Because it is by questioning the shadows, without stopping at the surface, that light is shed on things.

Her works, present in Italy and abroad, are acquired by public and private spaces. She works with Shazar Gallery in Naples.

She teaches Photography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Macerata.
