Credere

October 1996: I was accompanying some tourists to visit a church in Naples called S. Pietro ad Haram when, in the cemetery below, I took (in secret) a picture of a woman speaking with the death. “Credere” has been inspired by that woman portrayed in the obscurity, with some lights on her face.
“Credere” is a new search made in the south of Italy, about different way to believe, according the Christian or Pagan religion.
It’s an anthropological theme, so it doesn’t want to explain anything, it’s a mental tale, starting from the 366 graves dug by Ferdinando Fuga in XVIII century for poor people (no archives exists) and finishing, at the moment, with a Christ covered by a plastic veil during a religion procession .
It is an “open work” that grows up during years, accompanying myself all life long…
